OUR HISTORY

1938: Grandfather Aristeidis builds a cottage on the historical hill of prophet Elias, which lays on the east side of the city of Chania.
1941-1944: The cottage is dictated under German conquerors, becomes a guardhouse and is given the name Kookoovaya probably because of the panoramic view of the city. Another myth says that the name comes from the many owls that used to nest around the area.
1997: After the end of the German occupation the abandoned residence is regenerated, and Koukouvaya cafe-bar opens its wings.
